FAQ
It is normal to feel a little anxious before deciding to meet with a counsellor. Here are some Frequently Asked Questions that you may find helpful as you consider your next steps.
If your question hasn’t been answered, please feel free to get in touch using the contact information available.

Can I have counselling with you?
I am currently trained to work with adults over 18 years of age. A first step in choosing a counsellor will involve a phone conversation to check that I am the right fit for you. If I am not the right counsellor for you, I will be happy to support you in finding an appropriate service to meet your needs.
What happens on the initial call?
We will briefly explore what your expectations are from coming to counselling. This will also be an opportunity to discuss why you have chosen to find a counsellor at this time. We’ll then talk through some of the counselling agreement in preparation for our first session together.
What is a counselling agreement?
This is a contract which outlines what to expect from our work together. It covers areas such as session times, cancellation policies, fees, confidentiality and my Ethical Framework and way of working.
How many sessions can I expect and how long are they?
We will agree a number of sessions at the start of our work together. This might change during the process of counselling. Sessions are 1 hour long and usually weekly.
How much does it cost and how do I pay?
My standard rates are:
-
Free initial phone conversation (20 minutes)
-
£40 per hourly session
Fees are payable via bank transfer at least 48 hours prior to our session together. Arrangements for cash payments may be agreed as an alternative form of payment.
